As you know, my shop was selected to be in the first ever UK Etsy Advert.
It was filmed in May and will be shown in the UK tonight on Channel 4 between 8pm and 10pm.

In the meantime, here is a link to some behind the film footage: https://blog.etsy.com/uk/2014/06/11/etsy-uk-tv-ad-first-look/#ooid=twOTY4bjrUFsc7MmY5coi8o5na12lpjK

New Blythe Blouse

I have been buying some plain linen mix fabrics in preparation for making some new Blythe blouses/tops. Here is the first one I ran up earlier today. I will be adding 2 buttons on the front to compliment the white lace and the tonal bow.

I also have this same fabric in green and I plan on making the same style blouse with the same trim.

The green ribbon is lighter than the fabric but because it is tonal, I think it brightens up the blouse a bit.
Stay tuned for more new items next week.

Apologies.......Changes

Hi All,

It's been well over 2 months since my last blog post!!! so I apologise for that. I even missed my own blogging birthday!!!

So much has happened in my personal life that I felt I had to take a break from alot of things to focus and get my head together.

At the moment I am no longer working full time. My boss decided she couldn't handle trying to run two businesses simultaneously and decided, unfortunately to cease the fashion business that I was working with her on.

My first priority on learning this was going to happen was to put my portfolio together and if you have ever had to do this, you know it takes a while to get it to the stage where you are really happy with it. Although I got it done, I didn't want to apply for another job straightaway, but instead I have decided to use the holiday time to rest, plan and organise some things while I have the time to do so. I have included a few pages from my portfolio to share with you.

I am thinking of re introducing Womenswear back into my Etsy shop, but I am looking at the best way to do it. I didn't relist the items when the listings expired, as I felt the items were a little Summer in style and fabric and due to making the bridesmaid dresses, was unable to make any new styles to add in. Womenswear has always been the thing that I like to make best and I guess I find it really easy because it is the thing I also do in my full time job.
I also have been getting alot of comments from friends and random strangers lately on the vintage dresses I have been wearing out to various functions, so another idea is to perhaps introduce a vintage element into my Etsy shop also or even as another side line - I 'm not entirely sure. See, this is what happens when you come out of working fulltime, you suddenly see things differently and you seem to have lots of ideas springing into your head!

Will keep you posted on everything.

Have a great evening. X

Happy New Year!!!!

Happy New Year to you all!!!!! I wish you all good health, happiness, love, joy and peace and all God's eternal blessings!!!

A new year is always full of new experiences, challenges and opportunities!!!

I was ill just before and during Christmas so I was unable to do any blogging. I had flu, and for the first time in many , many years I was confined to my bed for several days straight.

I am feeling much better now and I return to work tomorrow.

I don't normally make any new year's resolutions as such, instead I have a long list of things I'd like to do.
Included in my list this year is to make the time to visit more museums and exhibitions, learn to play the guitar and concentrate on growing my Etsy business.

Have a great rest of weekend

New Etsy Styles

I managed to upload some new styles onto Etsy. Hope you like them.
I have set myself a goal of having 20 listed items in my Etsy shop by the 20th December - I currently have 15, so 5 more to go. I just thought it would be a good idea to set myself some goals.
I am currently working on two red tops, an embroidered and embellished dress and a grey dress. That's 4 items and I did buy some brown wool fabric today, and I already have a style in mind for that - and that will make 5 in total.
Of course, these are being made in between me doing the wedding commissions!!!
Have a lovely evening.

Work In Progress

I find that most of the time I work on a few different things at the same time.

Right now, I have been commissioned to do some sewing for 2 different weddings. One is a dress for the Mother Of the Groom for a wedding in Mauritius the end of this month, which I have almost finished. The second is for the Mother Of the Bride (toile made and ready to fit) and the Groom's waistcoat for a wedding the beginning of January. I will post pic's of all when I've done them.

On the Etsy front, I am working on quite a few new pieces ; a basic gathered neck top in red (see pic) with thin ties, an embellished and embroidered dress which I can't wait to finish, and a grey jersey and lace dress. I have found myself crocheting these flower shapes and balls whilst in front of the t.v. I'm not sure what I'll make out of them yet, but be sure I'll post pic's when I do decide!

Have a lovely evening.

Soft metallic versatile skinny cowl

Look what I made with the cream metallic knit fabric I bought on Saturday!!!!

It's a skinny cowl that can be worn in a number of ways to dress up any plain outfit. It is so soft and the metallic yarn knitted through it adds to the luxe factor - certain to glam up your plain wardrobe basics.

Wear it singularly to just hang like a knitted neckpiece.
Loop it twice for more of a casual loose cowl.
Loop it three times and it becomes a snug neckwarmer.

I will be making this same style up in the black and khaki and all will be available in my Etsy shop soon.

have a great evening!
